Microburst Learning’s Successful Technology and Applied Teamwork Program (STAT)
Purpose: (STAT) promotes academic, personal, and social achievement in the lives of at-risk high school students. The youth build a sense of community, teamwork and accountability through team building skills, competitions, and learning to work with new technology.
Results: The tangible end product is a virtual job shadow production, but the effects of the program reach far deeper than the technological skills gained by the students.
Improve Leadership and Teamwork Through Creating Virtual Job Shadows
Upon completion of the program, students are aware of the reality of maintaining a job, have increased their self confidence and planned and executed every stage of building an interactive component of a Virtual Job Shadow.
Each student has had a chance to succeed as a leader and as a team member and to gain the vital skills required to succeed in today’s world of work.
Students leave the program more prepared for the workplace and with the possibility of a successful college career. The Virtual Job Shadow content created by the students is used by Microburst Learning to complete the development of Virtual Job Shadows for each of the careers featured by the STAT participants. Once completed, the Virtual Job Shadows will be made accessible 24/7 and available at no charge for the students of South Carolina via the Personal Pathways to Success initiative “Connect 2 Business”.
